After we woke up, showered and started thinking about packing Katie's aunt came to our room to inform us of the various storm warnings for MO and KS. All for the area we were planning on driving through. Darn. We looked at the weather for our route, checked various websites, and tried to work out exactly how likely tornadoes were and how much we valued our lives. In the end, we decided not to leave. Although the weather here was alright, we were going to head straight into a storm cell as we drove across MO.

| This was after we were looking at it - but you get the idea That big scary yellow and red thing - we didn't want to drive through it |
We were supposed to have three shorter days to get to Boulder, CO. So now with the weather shift, we're going to have two LONG days (7+ hours) tomorrow and the next day but still make it to Boulder when we originally planned. Hopefully there won't be any reason not to go tomorrow, or we'll have to change our plans quite a bit.
Anyways, today... Once we decided not to go driving we had the rest of the day off to hang out. Since there were still storms predicted for the St. Louis area we decided not to go to the city. All of that means we had plenty of time to write blog entries, sort photos, and upload them to facebook.
Katie wanted to watch Meet me in St. Louis which we thought was appropriate. After that we had some more milling time (I was getting a bit antsy). At around 4PM Katie's aunt came to tell us there was a tornado warning for the area and we should stake out the basement. We kept tabs on the news, but there wasn't anything major for the area - just a big thunderstorm like we'd have in NoVA. After that we watched Glee (the season finale!) and chilled some more (are you sensing a theme yet?). Eventually it was dinner time (salmon with this great maple syrup crust - yum!!) followed by some discussion about getting jobs (oh the life of an unemployed college grad...).
After that Katie and I discussed our plans for the next day (driving - shock!). We worked on packing our various items. (I know we were only here for 2.5 days, but my suitcase sort of vomited all over the floor during that time frame.) We also did some reorganizing in the car. When we originally packed it we weren't sure which items were going to be accessed the most and which we were going to happily ignore for most of the trip. Now that we're seasoned travelers (HA!) we had a much better notion of what needed to be where. So we moved a few things around. We also cleared out the trash and water bottles that had accumulated over the past few days. Cloud (my car - don't judge) felt much better, I can tell. Finally we decided to finish watching Someone Like You as a good way to finish out a slow day. It ended as expected and was appropriately sappy.
| Cloud looking pleased. Not taken today, but this picture makes me so happy! |
Hopefully we'll have considerably better weather tomorrow, but we'll keep you updated.
Bye till then...
